Heirloom Cross Stitch: Purple "D"

I am still working on my nephew's "C" cross stitch, but I took a short break to make a piece for my Niece. She'll be turning 5 years old in a couple of weeks. I decided to make something a little more girlie and choose a script font for the letter "D".

I made a slightly smaller sized cross stitch {4" diameter} because I wanted to get it done before her birthday. I put it in the mail last week just after finishing it. I like to give these heirloom pieces for gifts and hope they will be treasured for years to come.

Not sure the best way to complete the back- so I just pulled it tight and cut off the edges. I lined the back with a fun purple fabric scrap.
