Make a Mess Monday: Play dough

The little misters and I made a batch of Play Dough from scratch. We used a recipe my mother gave to me. It took less than 15 minutes to mix it all up and once it cooled Little Man helped me pick out the the colors. We decided on the three primary colors: yellow, blue and red.

One Batch of play dough made three good sized balls which we filled with several drops of food coloring. After kneading the color into the dough for what seemed like forever, adding a drop or to to deepen the shade, we were ready to play.

We brought it outside to Make a Mess with little plastic animals, cutting tools and a small rolling pin. The boys dug into it, smashed it around a bit and then were done. The next day the neighbor girls came over to play and they all enjoyed mixing the primary colored dough to make orange, green and purple.

Here's the recipe we used. Hope you're able to Make a Mess with this magical dough. {I store mine in ziplock sandwich bags or tupperware to keep it from drying out.}
